Experience

My professional experience spans industrial engineering, enterprise IT infrastructure, software development, and cloud technologies.

In recent years, my focus has been on Azure Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, security, and automation — designing and improving environments that support reliable software delivery and day-to-day operations.

Azure Platform & DevOps Engineering

Endava Ltd

Senior DevOps Engineer | August 2022 – Present

Working as a consultant across enterprise projects in financial services, insurance, e-commerce, trading, and logistics, I have been involved in designing, implementing, and improving Azure cloud infrastructure, DevOps processes, and security solutions.

My work has covered several areas:

Azure Platform Engineering & Governance

Designing and implementing Azure Landing Zone governance, including management group structures, policy automation, subscription provisioning, and self-service workflows. Using Bicep, Azure Verified Modules, GitHub Actions, and Python to automate infrastructure governance and operational processes.

Cloud Infrastructure & CI/CD

Building Azure infrastructure with Terraform and Bicep, and implementing automated deployment pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions. Supporting application environments from development through production, including deployment controls, approvals, and release automation.

Cloud Security & Compliance

Improving security in existing Azure environments through network segmentation, traffic analysis, and Network Security Group configuration. Working with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and PowerShell to understand existing connectivity and implement security changes with minimal disruption to running services.

DevSecOps & Application Platforms

Integrating security scanning, quality checks, and controlled deployment processes into CI/CD workflows. Supporting cloud application platforms, including Azure App Service, Function Apps, databases, messaging services, and AI-related infrastructure.

Selected implementations and technical solutions are presented in the Projects section.

Transition to Cloud & DevOps

Zühlke Engineering Ltd

DevOps Engineer | December 2021 – July 2022

Worked as a DevOps consultant on enterprise projects in the telecommunications and precision engineering industries.

Designed and provisioned Cloud Foundry services and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines. Also worked with Microsoft Azure, implementing cloud infrastructure, application repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and automated processes for testing and production deployments.

Naval Technology Bulgaria Ltd

Technical Manager – IT | January 2021 – December 2021

During the establishment of a new ship design engineering office in Varna for the German Lürssen Group, I led local IT infrastructure planning and coordinated the technical activities required to maintain business continuity and establish the new working environment.

During the initial transition, operating through LS Engineering Ltd, I configured a new Windows domain and migrated the existing workstations and servers, enabling engineers to continue working while accessing Lürssen's engineering systems remotely.

I also contributed to planning and establishing the new office infrastructure, including workspace organization, network design, equipment selection and deployment, and dedicated fiber-optic Internet connectivity.

Following the transition to the new office and centrally managed IT services, I coordinated local technical support requirements with the IT teams in Germany.

I also evaluated the adaptation of my previously developed CableRouting software to Lürssen's engineering environment. This involved analyzing existing cable design workflows, available engineering data, and integration possibilities with their 3D modelling and production systems. I prepared a phased modernization and integration proposal covering data validation, cable routing constraints, cable tray capacity management, and future integration with the 3D model.

Enterprise IT Infrastructure & Engineering Systems

Keppel FELS Baltech Ltd

November 1994 – December 2020 | Varna, Bulgaria

Career progression

  • IT Manager | June 1998 - December 2020

  • Computer Services Manager | February 1997 - June 1998

  • Senior Engineer, Computer Services | November 1994 - February 1997

Over more than 26 years at Keppel FELS Baltech, my responsibilities evolved from hands-on systems engineering to managing the company's IT infrastructure, while remaining actively involved in technical design, implementation, and automation.

Enterprise IT Infrastructure & Management

Designed and built the company's local data center and developed its IT infrastructure to support ship design and offshore engineering operations.

My responsibilities covered the full infrastructure lifecycle — from assessing business requirements, planning technical solutions, evaluating equipment, and managing procurement to installation, configuration, integration, security, and ongoing operations.

The environment included physical and virtual servers, Windows and Unix-based systems, corporate networking, storage, databases, and specialized engineering applications.

I also designed and implemented infrastructure modernization projects, including server virtualization, virtual desktop infrastructure, network security improvements, and data replication between international engineering offices.

Working with a small IT team, I combined infrastructure management with hands-on technical responsibilities, focusing on reliable operations, practical solutions, and efficient use of available resources.

Tribon Engineering Systems & International Implementations

Alongside my corporate IT responsibilities, I worked extensively with Tribon, a specialized ship design and 3D modelling system, covering system administration, implementation, integration, and engineering applications.

My technical work included installing, configuring, and optimizing Tribon environments across Windows, Linux, and HP-UX platforms, as well as working with engineering modules, data extraction, and integration with other systems.

On behalf of Tribon Solutions (later acquired by AVEVA), I personally delivered system implementations, technical demonstrations, benchmarks, and training for shipyards and ship design offices across Europe and Asia, including Singapore, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, Greece, and Bulgaria.

These international assignments involved working directly with engineering teams, understanding their specific workflows and requirements, and providing practical technical solutions, training, and assistance during system implementation.

This experience also led to the development of specialized software tools and interfaces connecting Tribon engineering data with other design and shipyard production systems.

Engineering Software Development & Automation

Throughout my years at Keppel FELS Baltech, I designed and developed specialized software applications to automate engineering processes, simplify complex tasks, and integrate systems that were not originally designed to work together.

Using C++/MFC, C#, .NET, and Python, I developed solutions for both internal engineering teams and external clients, including shipyards and engineering software providers.

These included database management tools, interfaces for transferring engineering data between design and production systems, automated cable routing and material calculations, engineering document management, and specialized tools supporting offshore structural analysis.

Some applications were developed to address specific operational needs, while others became part of commercial engineering software distributions, such as DBTools Pro, which was included in the Tribon Solutions software delivery package.

A significant part of this work involved understanding engineering processes, identifying opportunities for automation, designing practical solutions, and working directly with engineers to implement and refine them.

Selected applications and their technical implementations are presented in the Projects section.

Early Engineering Career

My professional career began in industrial electronics and ship electrical engineering, combining technical design with practical implementation.

Shipyard, Rousse

Electrical Designer | December 1990 – October 1994

Designed electrical systems for ships and monitored their implementation.

Alongside my engineering responsibilities, I worked with colleagues to introduce computer-aided preparation of electrical drawings and technical documentation, using early PC systems and AutoCAD.

System Invest Engineering Ltd

Designer | November 1989 – December 1990

Designed, tested, and repaired electronic devices, working with industrial control systems and electronic controllers.
